PAGE 1 [R]

Panel 1:
Grandma, an old creole woman who looks like a skeleton with loosely draped skin, is grinning ear to ear as she stirs a giant pot with steam floating up hypnotically. Despite Grandma’s eerie appearance, it would appear the kitchen was prepped for a lovely dinner, because behind her pot stirring is a table set for three, plates set on an old worn but cared for table.

SFX: humhumhum

Panel 2:
Grandma leans back and calls out to the children in her house, one hand coming to her mouth to amplify her voice, bony knuckles clack together. Though she calls out, the kids footsteps are already getting closer.

Grandma: Billy! Nika! Get your precious hearts in here!

SFX: tp tp tp

Panel 3:
Two children slide into the kitchen, coming like dogs. One, the boy Billy, is short and small with his sneakers untied, he can’t be older than 6 or 7. the girl Nika wears her hair in loose braids, she’s taller than the boy, her limbs lanky and thin. Both their faces are wide-eyed, they look a little nervous.

Grandma: slow down! Slow. Down! Ain’t no runnin’ in this house! Better not have tracked any mud in here, my children.

Panel 4:
From behind the children we look up at grandma, smiles kindly, though eerily, down at the two while she rests one hand on her bony hip and the gestures with the spoon using the other. The pot continues to produce steam behind her.
Grandma: we’re short some goodies for dinner, I need you to go get them from the basement dears. I hope you restocked the pantry from last week.

Caption: We call her Grandma.

Nika: Do we need our sticks Grandma?

Grandma(cont.): Yes, Nika, grab your big ones.

Panel 5:
Close up of grandma stirring her pot again, smiling calmly, a hunger growl is emitted from her stomach.

Grandma: We gon’ need a lot of teeth.

Caption: She likes it that way.

PAGE 2 [L]

Panel 1:
The scene changes to a very organized but dingy room. Billy and Nika’s small hands grab their crude sticks. One is a splintered and dented bat with wrappings lining the handle, Nika’s preference. The other is a large wrench, which Billy grabs, rusted with one half of the curve on the head snapped off.

Panel 2:
Nika looks over at Billy who holds his weapon in both hands, feeling the weight of it.

Caption: Did we restock?

Panel 3:
The children walk to the basement, kitchen to their right, living room to their left with a static tv as the only thing on, and a dark stairway from which they’ve descended.

Panel 4:
Billy wiggles a loose tooth in his mouth and Nika looks without him noticing, a bead of sweat slips down her cheek.

Caption: I sure hope so…

Panel 5:
From the base of some old rickety stairs we look up at the descending children, their flashlights already on as a bulb dimly flickers above them. The stairs creak under their weight, slight though it is.

SFX: creak creaaak

Panel 6:
Billy and Nika cross the threshold between staircase and basement hallway. On the walls leading deeper into the basement are scratches and smears, Billy’s flashlight causing his small form to create giant shadow on the marred wall.

SFX: tp tp

PAGE 3 [R]

Panel 1:
Establishing shot of long empty hall, empty except for Billy and Nika at the very opposite end, their flashlights are a pathetic search crew in pure darkness.

Panel 2:
Down another hall, completely empty has light flooding from around the corner from our protagonists. In the illuminated space are mounds of bones visible with some still having some sort of meat clinging to them.

Panel 3:
As Nika and Billy approach the pile on the floor, Nika pulls her shirt over her nose and mouth, scrunching her brow together in disgust. Billy on the other hand is more or less indifferent at the stripped corpse at their feet and instead stares at Nika with concern.

Nika: We’ve been looking forever. We may be in trouble Billy.

Panel 4:
A lone skull, dusty and old and cracked in the cranium sits against a wall
missing all it’s teeth.

Billy: There’s got to be something right?

Panel 5:
Several more skulls, human and animal, lay piled together at the base of crumbling brick, all missing their teeth.

Panel 6:
Billy and Nika stare at each other, both furrowing their brows, the reality begins to set in and fear oozes in the form of sweat.

Billy: Nika, what are we going to do?

PAGE 4 [L]

Panel 1:
Dynamic longshot of Billy and Nika turning to look behind them in terror, gasping from surprise.

Grandma (off-panel): BILLY! NIKA!

Panel 2:
Nika whispers to Billy, as they both grip their weapons tighter. Billy shakes slightly from the impending encounter but nods.

Nika (whisper): Stay behind me, we might be able to make a break for it if we can get past her--

Panel 3:
Grandma towers over them, her hands behind her thin waist. The two kids look up at her in shock.

Panel 4:
Same panel as three, except Grandma’s face is now smiling, one hand raised up high, in it is a cooking mallet.

Panel 5:
Grandma swings her mallet missing in the dark, hitting the wall causing it to explode in dust. Nika ducks underneath, pulling on Billy with her left and whacking Grandmas leg causing it to buckle with her stick.

Grandma: AIIIIIII-OuuuUUUGh!

SFX(Grandma): THOK

SFX(Nika): Crunch!

Panel 6:
Grandma screeches angrily while trying to balance herself with her short mallet, her knee broken and bone protruding while Nika and Billy escape, running towards the light pouring in from the basement stairway.

Grandma: COOooME BAAaCK! I NEED YOUR TEETH!

Grandma SFX: GROWL

Panel 7:
Birds eye view of Billy and Nika making a break for it, they dash across the yard of a decrepit old house, it’s door open, them having left so quickly it wasn’t closed. They are free.

Solid all around man, my biggest nitpick is the "tp tp" lettering for the walking. I'd use something with a vowel to help it read better, maybe something like "tok tok" (I've spent way too much time lettering now XD). I would have made this a critique but even with this sentence I'm way under 100 words XD
